ORIGINAL SIX HOCKEY COMMENTARY ON WHY 4 ON 4 HOCKEY?

When the original six hockey Program was initially organized , a major emphasis was on player development . In order  to achieve this goal we required an ice pad that would be best suited for younger players. The National Training Rinks smaller ice sheet is perfectly suited to accommodate all our needs with youth development.
3 on 3 hockey or 4 on 4 hockey ( to be determined) features more puck handling,creativity,non-stop skating, speed and agility, more passes and more receptions, more puck battles, more shots and more saves ( NHL STATS…462% more touches with the puck with smaller ice surface)
3 on 3  OR 4 ON 4 hockey is also fast paced, action packed and offers  a competitive style of play while developing your players skills at a much faster pace.

Original Six hockey Commentary on Why keep Score ?

WHY DO WE CONSTANTLY UNDERESTIMATE OUR CHILDREN’S ABILITIES TO DEAL WITH SET BACKS IN SPORTS ?

Original Six Hockey feels it is very important that young players begin to understand  what the concept of winning and  losing means. With proper guidance from parents and coaches, players start to develop and enhance their understanding of  scores in games. When players look at that scoreboard, they are telling us they are conceptualizing in their mind what kind of individual and team effort  will be required to keep that winning score or to go out there and put on greater efforts to catch up and try to win. Whether it is the thrill of a victory or the sadness of defeat…young players are very resilient and will adapt and make changes to their game …all because of a score. This is another essential part of hockey development.

Original Six Hockey on Why Sitting on the Bench is not a Bad thing

original six hockey on why sitting on the bench is not a bad thing.

original six hockey believes there is an entirely different dynamic on the bench that is vastly different then what they feel and experience on the ice. the chatter, the nervousness, the anticipation of the next shift is just a  few of the amazing elements witnessed on that  solid surface we call “the bench”..on the bench players are given that time to regroup within themselves, an opportunity to gather information given by the coaches…and in most cases.. help to ease any tension a player may have after an unsuccessful shift. the opportunity to get that “pat on the back” that they so deserved after scoring or assisting on that big goal.the chance to cheer on their teammates with thunderous stick clashing against the boards. its amazing to see that at a young age,you will here players on the bench talking strategy, developing thought processes that will later be transferred to their actions on the ice. of course the bench also offers some not so happy moments..coach reprimands, spending longer times on the bench…but even these moments …with some guidance and direction will for the most part translate into a more complete player with a stronger mind in dealing with a variety of situations.
